Hog hunting in Santiago, Chile. |
|
Many years ago when I was a naive 18 year old lad I travelled the lenghth and breadth of South America with my trusty butler and factotem, the loyal and trustworthy Barnes. After many weeks spent traversing and hunting in the many differing countries of this exotic continent, we arrived in sensual Santiago, Chile for some much needed rest and relaxation. We both looked forward with relish and unashamed gusto to enjoying the delights of the cities world famous brothels.
During a night enjoying the delights of one particularly establishment of erotica, I met a friendly chap who claimed to be a leading drug Baron in the cities most squalid slum. He showed a keen interest in my obsession with hunting and invited me to watch a hog hunt in the Santiago style !
I eagerly excepted his kind invitation.
The next day I met him in a deeply unpleasent part of the city and he took me on a brief sight seeing trip of the most depraved slums, followed by the highly anticipated hog hunt, " al a Santiago ".
The hunters were a scruffy bunch of louts and thugs, armed with nothing more than a machete apiece. From a crate on the back of a lorry was released a berserk, screaming domestic pig. The pig ran down an alley way chased by the rabble of grimy hunters, each wielding his machete and shouting vile obcenities. The pig was cornered and gruesomely hacked to death by this bunch of barbarous brutes. They soon departed laughing like demented buffoons.
I was a little taken aback by the brutality of this most unique form of hunting, but my drug baron amiego assured me it was the normal mode of hunting in the slums. Each to thier own say I !
