Bear Hunting Season |
|
Hello fellow hunters.
Hunting season for black bear in Washington state started on August 1 and the Washington Trails Association reminds hikers and other trail users to be aware of hunting seasons and use caution when out hiking.
“As the number of people using Washington’s backcountry trails has increased, so have the interactions between hunters, target-shooters and hikers,” said Jonathan Guzzo, advocacy director for Washington Trails Association. “Hikers exploring our public lands in August, September and October should be aware that hunting or target shooting may be happening in the vicinity, and take some steps to help ensure their own safety.”
“Hikers should keep in mind that most national forest lands in Washington state are open to hunting. If you are hiking on public land that is not a National Park or State Park, there’s a chance you could encounter hunters,” Guzzo added.
A variety of other hunting seasons will open in the upcoming months. Remember, if you are not on State Park or National Park land, there is a chance you could encounter hunters while hiking this late summer and fall. Please use caution when you are out hiking.
Feel free to ask me anything regarding the bear hunting season! Good day!
