Post Almost killed by a wild boar. Reply with quote
I had a frightful experience which very nearly cost me my life, whilst on a hunting trip in the Black forest, Germany in 1987.
I had been stalking a vicious and cantankerous old bruiser of a boar for quite some time.
Each time I almost had him in my sights he would move out of range. Twas frustrating and in my anger I turned to my hip flask of 10 year old malt whisky for solace. I soon became very drunk and in my intoxicated state I inadvertantly let down my guard.
Losing my bearings as I staggered around the forest in search of the brutish Boar I stumbled over a fallen branch and my gun went off narrowly missing my own head.
As I lay gasping in horror at my near decapitation I was rushed by the enraged Boar.
Its tusks dug deep into my thighs as it attempted to gore me to death. Although very drunk and weakened from loss of blood I managed to crawl free of this murderous demon and climb up a small tree to safety.
The Boar now consumed by blood lust charged the tree repeatedly in an insane attempt to dislodge me. Despite his buttings the tree held firm and I did not fall to my certain death.
The Boar lost interest a couple of hours later and strolled off.
I slid down to the ground and staggered to the nearest village to beg for help.
The two things this dreadful experience taught me were that one should never get drunk whilst hunting and never to underestimate the vicious nature of a Wild Boar !
