Post Killer Swan. Reply with quote
It is illegal to kill a swan in England. It is still technically a hanging offence. Only the Queen herself is permitted to kill and eat a swan. It is an archaic rule and one which the lower classes resent bitterly.
In this day and age where the working man has the misguided opinion that he is equal to his peers many believe they have the right to hunt and also eat this most regal of all birds.
There was a man who worked for me on my estate as a gardener. A bolshy sort with ideas above his station. He considered himself something of an orator and class reformer. I discovered him one lunchtime lecturing the other gardeners on the "rights of man" and other such comunistic red treason. I sacked him on the spot and chased him off my property with my riding crop across his back !
This left wing social agitator decided to get revenge on me by sneaking back under the cover of darkness like a skulking coward, in order to kill and eat one of my much loved swans. The pot bellied poltroon grabbed a swan but was shocked to find himself being attacked in return. The swan was not the docile beast he had falsly assumed. It fought back with such intensity that it killed the socially misguided twerp. Pecked to death by a feathery fiend !
I discovered his body floating in the lake the next morning. It was with a feeling of amusement and mild indifference that I informed the Police of this somewhat sad and bizarre death.
